  1. No. I don't think that texting can ruin kids or adult's grammar. Just because most people use something called auto correct. What auto correct does is it corrects your grammar if your spelling is wrong. But you can change it in the settings. So then you can test you grammar. But if its not on it might be able to ruin your grammar.

    1. i agree with you, but auto correct can make some words into different words.

    2. yes. I think it does mess up your writing because you might forget how to write normally. It might also mess up your writing with auto correct because it could change what your trying to say to a different word, which might make you write a different word than you want to write. It also might make you used to writing in the way you text your friends. it could also make you not write normally because you could be like texting to as 2 and not to, or you might write for like 4 and not for.

    3. I disagree because although there might be auto correct might help you it wont help you mesmerism how to spell the words that you have trouble with spelling and it and it wont stop you from using abbreviations

    4. I disagree with you because even though there is auto correct it doesn't correct abbreviation's.

    6. Great statement Luke! but, i politely disagree because maybe they don't know if they're using auto correct and they spell it spells correctly but they may not know that so they thinks it's correct

  2. In my opinion texting does ruin your writing. When you're texting you shorten words, like you into just u, witch doesn't make sense. You don't use full sentences and proper grammar. What if you texted so much you wrote some wrong things on an essay or test? Texting could effect grades.-Madiha

  5. In my opinion texting does not ruin people’s writing. I think this because from my experiences my friends will never text back in abbreviations and not punctuate. But I’ve seen their handwriting in real life and they spell words correctly when in texts, they would usually abbreviate.

  6. In my opinion texting does ruin your grammar. I think this because when you text and you don't spell correctly even though it corrects it they might still use that spelling in school. Because when they spell things wrong they just press on it and keep typing and doesn't really notice it. Also a lot of people just type in emoji's. So that's why I think typing ruins your grammar.

  7. In my opinion texting does not ruin your writing for 3 reasons.1] I think this because texting improves your grammar because auto correct tells you the correct way to spell it. 2] I also think this because texting adds punctuation automatically because of auto correct. 3] lastly, I think this because people always write the correct words not the abbreviation of it.

  8. Ms. Y here. Ms. N posted this, but I still have an opinion. I think any sort of writing, for any reason, is a good idea because you are still practicing writing. Maybe someone uses a word texting you that you forget to use, you think it's cool, and add that word to your writing vocabulary and try to use it more. This has happened to me when Mr. Brewer texted a sentence with the word "snivel" in it to me this week.

  10. I believe texting is ruining our writing in many ways. One way is we use auto correct too much to correct our spelling errors. When auto correct corrects our errors we don’t realize our mistakes and we don’t take the time to learn how to spell the words properly.
Another reason why texting is ruining our writing is because of the use of abbreviations. When a reader reads a text with abbreviations they might not understand the meaning of the abbreviation which could confuse them.

  11. I believe texting is ruining our writing in many different ways. One way is we use abbreviations way to much. For example we use u as an abbreviation for you. Another way is auto correct. When it corrects your spelling it doesn't correct your grammer. So you don't use correct grammer in class

  12. I believe texting doesn't ruin our writing or spelling. The reason why i believe it doesn't ruin our spelling is because there is auto-correct and I assume that the person that needs to correct there words would remember the correct way to spell it. The reason why I don't believe it doesn't ruin our writing is because we don't have to use a pencil or anything to text.

  13. I feel that texting is ruining our grammar, spelling, and writing. Kids are very impatient these days and they want to look cool when they text people like they’ve never texted someone before. I mean that in a bad way. They think they look cool but it ruins grades because of how texting affects their writing. I know this because the text states,” When kid’s text, they are trying to communicate quickly. So we don’t really care if our spelling or grammar is correct. But kids can get used to this way of writing. If so, they might forget the proper way to write and spell when they go to write a book report or an essay.” I can connect this girl’s statement to me because her and I have the same idea about kids who write incorrectly because of texting.

  14. I disagree that texting is not ruining my writing skills because we use emojis when texting, but when we write an essay we don't use emojis we yous punctuation. We may also use abbreviation when texting but I don't use abbreviation when writing my essays.

  15. I think texting does not ruin writing skills because texting is normally casual writing to a friend while writing in school is formal writing. What I mean is that texting in that form of writing means that you are trying to tell somebody something as soon as possible. In school, you have time to write out everything in proper grammar. You usually don't have to rush too much, and even if you have a tight schedule you don't have to answer to everything immediately. In conclusion, texting does not ruin your grammar.

  16. I think that texting does not ruin your writing; ya maybe you don't have to write for ever and your hand doesn't hurt. But you still go to school and write fine, so I don't think that texting ruins your hand writing. And maybe it takes more time to write, but you still get it done so that's my claim and why I think that typing doesn't ruin your writing. Talbott

  17. I don't think texting ruins your writing because it is basically writing in the first place. I think that texting actually improves your writing because lots of people do it all the time and so people would write a lot and you would practice writing.

  19. I don't think texting is ruining your grammar because its just writing a few words. Now most phones have auto-correct so people don't think its good to write words incorrect. That way it helps you write the correct word.

  20. In my opinion texting does ruin your grammar. It ruins your grammar because most people are lazy while texting so they say words like u, gd,(good) and sometimes just use emojis. Also if you say the words in a essay you will start to fail. Most of the time you use the words you will get used to it. So the will mess up your grammar.

  21. I think that texting is bad for your hand writing and here's why let's say you have a test and in one part of the test you have to write something but let's say your talking to a friend and they give you something and you thanks but in to this thnx and on the test you put you in to this u or your playing a game then instead of saying good game you say gg that's why I think that texting is bad for your hand writing

  22. I think texting is fine to do and it doesn't ruin your writing because it helps you learn the mistakes you make by auto-correcting it. Also most kids don't type using u as you and 2 as in to. We mostly use proper grammar and there sis nothing wrong with that.
