My Answer: SPF stands for sun protection factor. It is the measure of how long sun screen will protect you against ultra-violet rays (UV rays).
Four more facts I found interesting while I did my research was:
- Interesting fact #1: Ultraviolet (UV) light is invisible to humans, because it has shorter wavelengths than the light we can see.
- Interesting fact #2: No sunscreen blocks 100% of the UV rays.
- Interesting fact #3: If it typically takes you 15 minutes to burn without sunscreen and you apply an SPF 10, it will take 10 times longer (2.5 hours) to burn in the sun.
- Interesting fact #4: A higher SPF doesn't indicate superior sun protection—it indicates that you will remain protected in the sun for a longer amount of time. The lower the SPF, the more frequently you have to apply it.

ReplyDeleteMy Question: I wonder how they make McDonald's food so healthy now?
1. It said you should get a four piece chicken nugget instead of a 20
2. They use 100 beef in the happy meals.
3. They say you should not supersize your fries.
4. The last one is they say you can always get an apple slice bag for a healthy choice.
This is fabulous, Jackson!!!! Nice Job!!! It looks like you actually found your answer in the 4 things interesting things you learned!
DeleteYour answer could be: I found that Mc Donalds is starting to use quality ingredients in food, and customers can order healthier choices that Mc Donalds offers.
Q: Is there a ninth planet?
ReplyDeleteA: researchers have found evidence of "Planet X" in our solar system beyond Pluto
https://solarsystem.nasa.gov
Desmond, you completed half of the activity. Go back to the description and add your 4 interesting facts :)
Deletehere are some facts about my question:
Deletethe ninth planet "could have a mass about 10 times that of Earth and orbit about 20 times farther from the Sun on average than Neptune."
."It may take between 10,000 and 20,000 Earth years to make one full orbit around the Sun."
."(which orbits the sun at an average distance of 2.8 billion miles)."
."Scientists could tell that Planet Nine existed, because it's gravity was affecting rocky objects in space which circle around the planet Neptune."
My question: What caused the Big Bang?
ReplyDeleteMy answer: While I did not find the exact answer to my question, I did learn four interesting facts:
Interesting fact #1:
A scientist called Stephen Hawking studied a lot about the Big Bang, and his final theory is basically that the universe is like a 3-D hologram that can be reduced to 2-D. (this goes along with the Big Crunch theory, a theory that I will explain in my next fact)
Source: https://www.sciencealert.com/stephen-hawking-s-last-physics-paper-theory-on-eternal-inflation-multiverses
Interesting fact #2:
Another theory is that something called the Big Crunch will happen. The theory says that the universe will stop expanding, and then gravity will pull on the matter and then fall inward until it's collapsed back into a super small area. It heats up again, expanding again, and then cools down.
Source: https://science.howstuffworks.com/dictionary/astronomy-terms/big-crunch.htm
Interesting fact #3:
There could be a mother universe spitting out baby universes.
Source: https://www.livescience.com/65254-what-happened-before-big-big.html
Interesting fact #4:
The Big Bang could not be how the universe started, it is just the leading theory about how it started.

This is wonderful Grace, thank you for your findings!
DeleteVery amazing question. Thumbs up
DeleteFabulous finds, Julia!
ReplyDeleteQ: My question was what would happen if the entire amazon rainforest was destroyed?
ReplyDeleteA: We would breathe in so much carbon dioxide we would all die slowly
interesting facts:
1#: Natural fires are rare in the Amazon, and these have most likely been set by farmers clearing land.
2#: The Amazon rainforest is home to 10% of the world’s species.
3#: Metaphorically speaking, the vast tropical rainforest in South America’s Amazon River basin is often called the “lungs of the planet.”
4#: The Amazon rainforest creates 20% of the Earth’s oxygen.

Question: How long will humans live if the sun explodes?
ReplyDeleteAnswer: if the sun explodes Earth would last about 24 hours until it dies, however humans would only last about the last second after the sun explodes.
Interesting facts:
. It will take at least 7 or 8 billion years until the sun explodes.
. Overtime the sun converts its original hydrogen into heilim.
. The sun will become much brighter over billions of years.
. The sun is about 4.603 billion years old.
Thats so cool Emma:)
DeleteThat's a very interesting question, Emma! ( ͡~ ͜ʖ ͡°)
DeleteThanks guys
Deletemy question:why are cheetahs so good at hunting.
ReplyDeletemy answer:there so fast and thanks to there spots in grasslands they blend in.
1.they stalk there prey and wait for the right time to try to catch it.
2.there very fast animals so it is easy to catch a gazelle or zebra.
3.they chase there animals until they get tired cheetahs can run up to 71 mph so it should be easy to catch the prey in seconds before the cheetah also gets tired.
4.A cheetahs night vision is poor so they work in the day were they live the heat is terrible so there's a better chance of getting the prey tired so it will be easy to catch and succsesfully find lunch.
Q: What would happen if earth's core vanished?
ReplyDeleteA: When the molten outer core cools and becomes solid, a very long time in the future, the Earth's magnetic field will disappear. When that happens, birds will not know where to fly when they migrate, and the Earth's atmosphere will disappear.
Fact #1: If this happened, compasses wouldn't point North
Fact #2: Gravity would weaken DRASTICALLY, because the Earth's core makes up about 30% of the mass here.
Fact #3: The Moon's orbit would change too much for the moon to stay in orbit, causing it to start spiraling away, giving us crazy weather and tides.
Fact #4: The mantle would crash in to the hollow space in the earth, causing MASSIVE earthquakes!
big brain power
ReplyDeleteyes
Delete😂haha😹
DeleteQ: If scientists know how old the sun is, how do they not know how old the Earth is?
ReplyDeleteA: Scientist do know how old the Earth is.
4 things I learned:
The Earth is 4.543 billion years old.
The Sun is 4.603 billion years old.
The mass of the Earth is 5.972x10^24 kg.
The Solar System is 4.571 billion years old.
My question: I wonder if deforestation can slow down the worlds’ economy?
ReplyDelete1. Deforestation costs $4.5 trillion each year through the loss of biodiversity.
2. People cut down 15 billion trees every year.
3. In the last 50 years, 17% of the Amazon rainforest has been destroyed. It might not seem like much, but the tipping point is 20%. At that point, the rainforest's water cycle won't be able to support all the ecosystems within it.
4. The Amazon region had severe droughts in 2005, 2010 and 2015-2016. It had severe floods in 2009, 2012, and 2014. Scientists believe these were the first signs of destabilization.
my answer:In the last 50 years, 17% of the Amazon rainforest has been destroyed. It might not seem like much, but the tipping point is 20%. At that point, the rainforest's water cycle won't be able to support all the ecosystems within it. The eastern, southern, and central Amazon region would become a savannah.
DeleteMy Question: I wonder if McDonald's will lower their calories on hamburgers.
ReplyDeleteMy Four Interesting Facts:
1. Some of McDonald's burgers have a LOT of calories.
2. Lots of people eat from McDonald's every day, and are still healthy because they choose the healthier options at McDonald's.
3. One of the most healthy items at McDonald's is a hamburger.
4. The McDonald's strawberry shake contains zero strawberries.
My Answer: McDonald's already has low-calorie options.
DeleteIf the strawberry shake contains no strawberries then how is it a strawberry shake?
DeleteMy question: How many koalas have died in the Australia fires?
ReplyDeleteMy answer: At least 25,000 Koalas are believed to have died in the wildfire in south Australia.
Fact#1: Estimate 1 billion animals are now dead in Australia fire.
Fact#2: Dozens of fires erupted in New South wales, Australia, prompting the government to declare a state of emergency in November 2019. Roughly 25.5 million acres, have burned.
Fact#3: The Australian koala foundation say that there are less than 100,000 koalas left in the wild possibly as few as 43,000.
fact#4: There are only about 40,000 to 100,000 Koalas remaining after uncontrolled habitat destruction. The animals are now considered endangered.
Nice question, my dude
DeleteMy question: What if scientists found a ore that didn't burn at high temperatures, so they made a sattlite that could go to the sun.
ReplyDeleteFact#1 The Parker Solar Probe is a NASA robotic spacecraft launched in 2018, with the mission of repeatedly probing and making observations of the outer corona of the Sun. It will get to the sun by 2025
Fact #2 There are no known materials that can exist as solids, liquids or gases at such extreme temperatures.
Fact#3 NASA's Parker Solar Probe is now the closest object to the Sun that we've ever sent into space. On Oct. 29, 2018, at about 1:04 p.m. EDT, NASA's probe broke the old record for the close-to-Sun distance of 42.73 million km (26.55 million miles).
Fact#4 Yes, the Sun - in fact, our whole solar system - orbits around the center of the Milky Way Galaxy. We are moving at an average velocity of 828,000 km/hr. But even at that high rate, it still takes us about 230 million years to make one complete orbit around the Milky Way!
My Question: If the sun died where would we go?
ReplyDeleteMy Answer: No one really knows but some ideas are that the planets that orbit the sun will slowly expand. But it won't happen fast enough to save earth but humans could travel to Neptune if it edges far enough out for life, but with some terraforming.
Fact #1: When the sun expands into a red giant it will vaporize the earth.
Fact #2: In about 5 billion years our sun will die.
Fact #3: Most stars like the sun will burn for about 10 billion years.
Fact #4: our sun is half way through it’s life
My question: How did the coyotes get through the Appalachian Mountains during migration?
ReplyDeleteMy answer: While I did not find the exact answer to my question, I did learn four interesting facts:
1. " The coyote is an expert hunter of rodents, and a wonderful species to have around for rodent control.
2. " They are omnivores who will happily feast on ripe berries, vegetables, fallen fruit and other healthy goodies."
3. " Coyotes mate for life and are monogamous."
4. " The coyote was once found only in the southwestern and plains area of North America. But as Europeans moved west — extirpating large predators such as wolves, cougars and bears that kept coyotes in check, and cutting down forests into prairie-like farmland — the coyote found its opening to spread into new territory."
My question:I wonder how humans prevent fires from spreading through the whole forest?
ReplyDeleteAnswer: firefighters stop small fires, but if the fire is really big they use air crafts to drop chemical retardant from above.
1.Air crafts they drop chemical retardant which helps fires slow down
2.Fires can be caused by humans, lightning, and volcanoes
3.In the last decade 37 firefighters have died trying to put out a fire
4.An estimated 70 percent of all forest fires occur in the tropics, with half of them in Africa
-Madiha
there is no answer to my question that is just how humans are built

Question: How did Pangea appear on earth?
ReplyDelete1: Pangea was formed through years and years of landmass formation and movement.
2: Pangea assembled 335 million years ago.
3: It began to break apart 175 million years ago.
4: Pangea existed during late Paleozoic and early Mesozoic era.
Question: I wonder where the rainforest animals will go since there ecosystem is getting destroyed?
ReplyDeleteAnswer: They will get forced to move somewhere that is not their habitat, die, or go extinct.
1. The destruction of animals habitat makes them die
2. Some animals lose the space of land to roam wild
3. When the animals try to move, their new habitat gets overpopulated, so the area loses food and water
4. There could be competition between food and water by animals fighting for it.
(I know these are sad facts instead of interesting facts, but true).
On my question I meant "their" not "there"
DeleteCan't wait to see all of you guys soon! I miss being at school with all of you!
ReplyDeleteI agree hope you all are doing well
DeleteYes, I do wish I was in school.
DeleteMy question: How cold would it be if the sun disappeared?
ReplyDeleteWhen I first wrote this question I was hoping what I thought would happen would be true, but I was wrong. Apparently, if the sun were to disappear (which is near impossible) we would be completely fine. And you think that the sun will blow up in billions of years, but that's where you're wrong. The sun actually won’t blow up. It may seem that way but actually in about a billion years we will get swallowed by the sun and it will seem like the sun is blowing up.
I got this information from : https://www.huffpost.com/entry/what-if-the-sun-disappeared-earth-video_n_2999693
When I read the information from another article I realised that Earth would just be a ball helplessly going through space with no guidance. Also It is impossible for the sun to just disappear.
I got my information from:https://www.popsci.com/node/204957/
Even though I've been talking about the sun disappearing, this article was about the sun exploding. The sun is a star and when a star explodes it's called a supernova. If the sun were to explode then the sun would turn big and red and it would continue getting bigger until it eats Mercury,Venus, and Earth.
I got this information from: https://www.mic.com/p/what-would-happen-if-the-sun-exploded-19289550
I couldn't have used my 4th one because it said the exact same things as the one I just did.
