Extra notes from Ms. Y:
*Remember to put your name if you are 'unknown' or under your parent's account.

*If you comment on someone's post, try compliments like:
"I like it when you..." or "You did a good job when you...." or "I want to try.... because yours is clear/interesting/well done". This makes it more personal, specific and thoughtful.
For example: I want to try to compare and contrast in my Es like Jackson because his E was interesting.

    1. Yes, you did. Just do the last ACE and the extra credit paragraph. -Ms. Y

  2. Roy's father checking out the permit shows that he cares about the owls. I know this because the text states,"'because there's something there that everybody in Coconut Cove ought to know'...'Every big construction project is supposed to do one. It's the law.' 'Yeah, but Mother Paula's E.I.S. isn't in there.'" This shows how Roy's dad cares about the case because he gave Roy the file with no E.I.S. in there proving that they broke the law. I can connect this to some contracts, because if you don't sign the contract you can't do certain things like build a house on a property or share personal items with other people.

  4. My favorite part of the story is when Roy was in the middle of a bunch of cotton mouths because I was on the edge of my seat waiting to her what happens next

  5. A: When Roy discovers that his dad took out the construction permit file, Roy knew that his father cared for the owls.
C: I know this because the text states"' Don't thank me." Roy said "Thank my dad he obviously cared for the owls.
E: the c means that when Roy's father took the construction permit file, when they gave it to the news reporter they saved the owls.
I can connect this to me at my soccer game. I was at my soccer game and it was really cold and I didn't bring my jacket. But then my dad brought me my jacket. It was freezing.

  7. Roy's father is checking the permits because he cares for what his son cares about which is the owls.

I know this because the text states, "because there's something there that everybody in Coconut Cove ought to know"
This C means that roys father cares for the owls and he is gonna tell everyone so that the people can save the owls.
I can connect this to how if you wanna build something you gotta sign the right contract to do do what you are trying to do.

  9. Roy’s dad checking out the permit shows that his dad also cares about the owls. I know this because the text states, “‘Thank my dad he obviously cared for the owls”’ This means that Roy is telling the news lady that his dad really does care about the owls because he showed/gave her the file that his dad borrowed.

  10. I know that Roy's father cares because he got the permits. I know this because the text states "This is the file from city hall isn't it?" I can connect this to the story of Prometheus because he felt sorry for the humans and Roys dad felt sorry for the owls.

my favorite part was the end because then we knew Roy's father really cared.

  11. A: What this tells me about Roy's father is that he cares about the owls rather than just going along with Roy.
C: I know this because the text states,"He obviously cared for the owls."
E: I can connect this to myself because my dad most of the time just takes my side just because he thinks my idea is a good idea. The C means that Roy's dad cares about the owls and he wants to help Roy save them.
I really enjoyed this book and I think it helped us understand that we need to be helping our Earth, to save ourselves too because the world is being polluted, we are having global warming, and there is trash in our oceans.

  12. Since Roy's father had took the Mother Paula's folder Roy couldn't find the folder so then in chapter 21 Roy's father had given Roy the folder which had no E.I.S (Environmental Inspection Service) so, the Mother Paula's construction people had no rights to build there. This means that Roy's father is a really good guy. I know this because the text states, " Who obviously cares about the owls too. I can connect this to Mullet Fingers because he was the one who started all of this stuff about the owls.

  13. In chapter 21 when Roy found out his father was the one who checked out the companys permits it tells me that he is very caring for animals and the enviorment and likes to help his son when he can.I know this because when he hands the permits to Roy to give to the reporter he knows thats enough evidence to have the mother paulas construction site shut down.So I think Roys father is caring.

  14. When Roy finds out his father had checked out the papers, this means he really cared enough to put a stop to the pancake house getting torn down. I know this because the text states, "Roy said under his breath. "Thank my dad." Who obviously cared about the owls, too."
This means he cared about them because he thought to check them out before Roy.

    ReplyDelete
  15. When Roy's father shows shows that he actually checked out the document to read through it and show that they didn't have the E.I.S in the document shows that he cares. I know this because the text states,"Roy said under his breath."Thank my dad." Who obviously cared about the owls, too" It means that his dad cared about them a lot to check out the files and copy them.

My favorite part of the story is when the all chain together to protect Beatrice's stebrother.

  16. A When Roy's dad took the Mother Paula's permit folder, it proves that his dad cares about the owls and wanted to help out.
C I know this because the text states," Thank my dad." This means his dad changes everything.
E I can add on to this because if Roy's father didn't take the folder, Roy wouldn't be able to save the owls and succeed.

I didn't have a favorite part because I liked the whole book itself.

    ReplyDelete
  17. When Roy's father took the the document and looked through them to find that there was an important file missing, it really shows that he actually cared about the owls too. I know this because the text states, " Then taken the material to some lawyers who were experts on environmental matters." This shows how much Roy's father cares, for him to go and do all of that for the owls.

My favorite part was when you met Mullet Fingers and he was first introduced, I liked that whole section.

  18. When Roy's father took the files, it showed that he cared about the owls . I know this because the text states " He obviously cares about the owls." I can relate his dad to Mullet Fingers because he also cares about the owls .

In chapter 21, Roy found out that his dad took the files. He did that because he cared about the owls as much as Roy did. I know this because the text states,

    “What is it, Dad?”
    “She’ll figure it out.”
Roy opened the folder and broke into a grin. “This is the file from City Hall, isn’t it?”
“A copy,” said his father. “That’s correct.”

I can connect this to Monday. I was looking for a toy chest in my closet at my mom’s. I couldn’t find it, so I asked my mom to help me find it. She looked and found it and I thanked her for helping me.

  20. When Roy found out that his dad was the one that checked out the construction company's permit files it tells us that Roy's dad did care about the owls and wanted to help too. I know this because in the text it states," "Ah!" Kelly Colfax looked as if she'd just won the lottery. "Thank you, Roy," she said, embracing the folder
with both arms as she backed down the steps. "Thank you very, very much."
"Don't thank me," Roy said under his breath. "Thank my dad." Who obviously cared about the owls, too." This means that even Roy agrees that his dad wanted to help too and knows that he cared about the owls. I can connect this to zoos, people find animals that have been injured or are endangered and try to save them, like Roy and his friends tried to save the owls.-Madiha

  22. In the epilogue at the end of it when mullet fingers and Dana Matherson broke out of prison and Dana got caught but mullet fingers ran away.
I know this because in the epilogue it states "when mullet fingers and Dana matherson got out of the hamper with the stinky clothes they made a run for it".
My c means that when they ran away the reason mullet fingers picked Dana was because, he would take all of the cops and mullet fingers could run.
I can connect this to a t.v show called beyond scared straight. Talbott

  25. A:When Roy’s Dad checked out the permits it shows that the Dad cares about the owls
C: I know this because the text states,” Mr Eberhardt explained that he had borrowed the file, xeroxed every page and then taken the material to some lawyers who were experts on environmental matters’” So does Mother Paula’s have permission to bury the owls dens or not? Roy asked ,”’Was it in the file?”’ His father shook his head “Nope”.
E: This C means that Roy’s Dad checked out the permits to help the owls. I can connect this to “Fantastic Mr Fox” because three characters are trying to destroy his home and kill his family. This relates because the construction site is trying to build over the owls home which could result in their death.

My favorite part is the whole book . Good choice MsY 😁

  28. Roy's father checked out the file on the pancake house. He really care about the owls.
I know this because the text states,"Mr. Eberhardt explained that he had checked out the file xeroxed on every page."Do they have permission to bury the owls? Roy asked, Did they put it in the file?" Roy's father shook his head "Nope."
This C means that Roy's father felt the same way that Roy did. So he checked it out so Roy and his friends would have to do it the longer way.

  29. When roy's dad checked the permit, it meant that he cared for the owls. I know this because the text states,"' Don't thank me.' Roy said 'Thank my dad he obviously cared for the owls.'" I can compare this to my brother because he tries his best to thing for me that I want, but I can't compare this to my cousin because she doesn't really care about what anyone else thinks.

  30. When Roy's father checked out the file it told me that Mr. Eberheart agrees with what Roy is doing. I know this because the text states, "'Here give her this.' Roy,s father clicked open his briefcase and removed a thick manila folder. 'What is it Dad?' 'She'll figure it out,' Roy opened the folder and broke out into a grin. 'This is the file from City Hall, isn't it?' 'A copy,' said his father, 'That's correct.'" My c means that Roy's father checked out the file for the owls own good. I can connect this to my dad because mostly he agrees on what I think.

My favorite part was the whole book.

  31. This tells me that Mr. Eberhart doesn’t want the owl homes to be destroyed either. I know this because the text states, “Mr. Eberhart explained that he had borrowed the file, xeroxed every page, and then taken the material to some lawyers who were experts on environmental matters. ‘So does Mother Paula’s have permission to bury the owl dens or not?’ Roy asked. ‘Was it in the file?’ His father shook his head. ‘Nope.’” This means Mr. Eberhart was the one who took the files from the City Hall. My favorite part of the book was when Roy gave Mullet Fingers permission to use his name in the hospital.
